Real Steel (2011)
Thursday 9th February 2012
Hollywood star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy step into the ring for the fight of the future, as 4000 pounds of steel meet in the ultimate title fight of Real Steel, released on DVD and Blu-Ray by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on 20th February 2012.
Hugh Jackman stars as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up boxer in the near-future who, because his sport has been taken over by 8-foot steel robots, now lives in a world where he doesn't fit in. With no fights and no prospects, Charlie is forced to hustle as a small-time robot fight promoter. He earns just enough money to survive by piecing together low-end "bots" and travelling from one underground boxing venue to the next for any prize-fight he can wrangle for his automatons.
When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all the odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
Real Steel is directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum franchise and Date Night) and based in part on the short story by Richard Mathesom.
