Inspector Montalbano is back as he's never been seen before. Following the huge success of Inspector Montalbano the fiery Italian policeman returns to our screens as Young Montalbano, with all the integrity but less of the experience of his older, possibly wiser, self.
Starring Michele Riondino (Fortapasc, Dormant Beauty) in the title role, Young Montalbano is set in the early 1990s and gives an insight into the private life and early crime-fighting career of the idiosyncratic Sicilian detective.
Based on the bestselling stories of Andrea Camilleri, this prequel series was recently shown to critical acclaim in Italy and debuts on BBC Four, following which Young Montalbano Collection One, comes to DVD on 23rd September 2013, courtesy of Acorn Media.
Exhausted by the never-ending hillsides of his rural Sicilian beat, the Deputy Inspector is in the midst of investigating a murder when he finds himself promoted to Inspector and dispatched to his childhood home of Vigata. There he is called upon to take control of the local police station and gradually build his team with both Fazio Senior and Fazio Junior, Domenico 'Mimi' Augello and the young and exceedingly eager Officer Catarella.
Young Montalbano Collection One includes six episodes:
- The First Case (La Prima Indagine)
- Mortally Wounded (Ferito a Morte) New Year's Day (Capodanno)
- The Third Secret (Il Terzo Segreto)
- Back To Basics (Ritorno alle Origini)
- Seven Mondays (Sette Lunedi)
