American Fable (2016)
Friday 18th August 2017
When a girl discovers her father is hiding a wealthy man in her family's silo in order to save their struggling farm, she is forced to choose between saving the man's life or protecting her family in the gripping new thriller American Fable. The drama, about the dark underside of the American heartland, comes to DVD from High Fliers Films on 21st August 2017.
A dark, dreamlike mystery plays out amid the expansive farmlands of the American Midwest in this wondrous, storybook thriller. With her family's livelihood imperiled by the farm crisis of the 1980s, 11-year-old Gitty (Peyton Kennedy, XX, Odd Squad) loses herself in a world of fantasy and make-believe. But she stumbles into her own fairytale when she makes a startling discovery: a well-dressed mystery man (Richard Schiff, The West Wing, Ballers) being held captive in her family's silo. Thus begins a labyrinthine journey that will turn Gitty's world upside down and force her to question her loyalty to her own family.
Featuring chilling echoes of Pan's Labyrinth and Horns, American Fable unleashes a torrent of gorgeous, stunningly surreal images as it immerses viewers in a child's amazing imagination. American Fable, the feature debut from writer-director Anne Hamilton, also stars Gavin Macintosh (The Fosters, Bosch), Kip Pardue (Remember the Titans, Ray Donovan) and Marci Miller (Death Race 2050, Days of Our Lives).
