Season five of the magnificent action adventure series, set in the merciless and menacing world of Norsemen and women, is full of startling alliances and unbelievable betrayals as the Vikings fight to rule the world. It's packed with the sort of stirring spectacle and delicious intrigue fans of the show have come to expect.
Series regulars Gustaf Skarsga?rd (Westworld) as Floki, Katheryn Winnick (The Dark Tower), as the fearsome, sword-wielding Lagertha, and Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) as Bjorn, are joined by screen legend Jonathan Rhys Meyers, whose character appeared in the series four finale. No stranger to period spectacles after his dazzling turns in The Tudors and Dracula, Rhys Meyers lights up the screen as Bishop Heahmund, a religious warrior that series creator Michael Hirst describes as a 'wild card' who promises plenty of berserk battlefield action.
The tantalising blend of Norse history and myth continues to weave its utterly compelling spell, with magnificent scenery, shock character comebacks and reveals, grand and gruesome battle scenes, and a cliff-hanging mid-season finale, this is a binge-watch bonanza for lovers of raw and robust historical drama.
