
With the backdrop of Victorian England and inspired by the real life career of the celebrated 19th century detective, Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes, The Bourne Ultimatum) stars as Jack Whicher, in The Suspicions of Mr Whicher: The Complete Collection, which will be released as a DVD box set courtesy of RLJ Entertainment.
To coincide with two new films coming to ITV in September, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher will be released as a stunning box set on 22nd September 2014, featuring the new films Beyond the Pale and The Ties that Bind alongside the previous two films The Murder at Road Hill House and The Murder in Angel Lane.
The Murder at Road Hill House
Based on the real-life murder of 1860 as interpreted by Kate Summerscale in her bestselling book, the original film finds Inspector Jonathan "Jack" Whicher, from the newly formed Scotland Yard detective department, dispatched to the countryside to investigate the horrific murder of a three-year-old boy, the father of whom is played by Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who).
The Murder in Angel Lane
The groundbreaking detective now turned "private inquiry agent" spies Susan Spencer played by BAFTA winning Olivia Colman (Broadchurch), desperately searching for her vulnerable young niece.
Beyond the Pale
Whicher is drawn into a high-stakes case when powerful politician Sir Edward Shore, asks him to investigate threats that have been made against his son Charles, who has recently returned from India with his young family.
The Ties that Bind
Set shortly after The Divorce Act was passed, Whicher reluctantly follows the adulterous behaviour of Jane, the unhappy wife of a wealthy country landowner Henry Coverley.
