Nearly a decade after Jonathan Pine first entered the dangerous world of international arms dealing, Tom Hiddleston returns in the long-awaited second series of The Night Manager, coming to Blu-ray and DVD in the UK.
Eight years have passed since Pine's confrontation with notorious arms dealer Richard Roper. Believing that part of his life to be firmly behind him, Pine has assumed a new identity as Alex Goodwin and now works as a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London.
It's a deliberately uneventful existence - and one that allows Pine to keep the ghosts of his past safely buried.
That changes when a chance sighting of a former Roper mercenary suggests that the world Pine thought he had escaped may not have finished with him after all. His investigation leads to a violent encounter and the discovery of a new figure operating within the international arms trade: charismatic Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva).
Once again forced to disappear behind a carefully constructed identity, Pine sets out to infiltrate Dos Santos's organisation.
His investigation introduces him to Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone), a Miami-based shipping broker who reluctantly agrees to help him gain access to Teddy's operation. Travelling to Colombia, Pine finds himself drawn increasingly deeply into a clandestine network involving illegal arms shipments and the training of a guerrilla army.
But the conspiracy extends considerably further than Colombia.
Evidence begins to suggest that Teddy's operation has connections reaching into the British intelligence establishment itself, leaving Pine unsure who within MI6 can be trusted. As alliances shift and the distinction between friend and enemy becomes increasingly difficult to recognise, his mission develops into a race to expose a plot capable of destabilising an entire country.
Olivia Colman returns as intelligence officer Angela Burr, alongside several familiar faces from the original series including Alistair Petrie as Lord Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone as Frisky and Noah Jupe as Daniel Roper.
Joining Hiddleston for the new story are Diego Calva as Teddy Dos Santos and Camila Morrone as Roxana Bolaños, with Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi and Hayley Squires among the newcomers drawn into Pine's increasingly dangerous investigation.
Unlike the original 2016 series, which adapted John le Carré's 1993 novel, Series Two ventures beyond the events of the book. Returning writer David Farr has created a new story using le Carré's characters, continuing Jonathan Pine's life eight years after the conclusion of his original mission. All six episodes are directed by BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies, whose previous credits include I Hate Suzie and Paper Girls, with the series again produced by The Ink Factory in association with Character 7 and other production partners.
Originally broadcast on BBC One at the beginning of 2026, the complete second series of The Night Manager is released on Blu-ray and DVD 28th September 2026 from Fifth Season.
