Amazon MGM Studios is bringing Middle-earth to physical media this November with the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD, alongside a Limited Edition 4K SteelBook.

Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the epic fantasy series takes audiences back to the Second Age of Middle-earth, a period in which great kingdoms rose and fell, powerful rings were forged and a seemingly defeated evil began its long return.

Following the defeat of the Dark Lord Morgoth, the Elves have enjoyed a lengthy period of relative peace. Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), however, remains convinced that Morgoth's servant Sauron is still alive and refuses to abandon her search for an enemy that many of her fellow Elves believe has disappeared from Middle-earth.

Her journey eventually brings her into contact with the mysterious Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) and takes her to the island kingdom of Númenor, where Queen Regent Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), Elendil (Lloyd Owen) and his son Isildur (Maxim Baldry) are among those drawn into the growing threat facing Middle-earth.

Elsewhere, Elrond (Robert Aramayo) is sent to work with the celebrated Elven smith Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) on an ambitious new project. Seeking the assistance of the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm reunites Elrond with his old friend Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) and Princess Disa (Sophia Nomvete), but the thriving Dwarven kingdom is itself concealing a discovery that could have enormous consequences.

In the Southlands, the Elf Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and healer Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi) discover evidence that a new enemy is gathering strength, while a mysterious figure known as Adar (Joseph Mawle) leads an army of Orcs whose plans threaten to transform the region forever.

Far from these kingdoms and conflicts, young Harfoot Nori Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh) makes an extraordinary discovery when a mysterious Stranger (Daniel Weyman) falls from the sky. Against the cautious traditions of her people, Nori befriends the enigmatic newcomer and attempts to uncover both his identity and the reason for his arrival.

Developed by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Rings of Power brings together these apparently separate stories as the long-feared shadow begins to return to Middle-earth, setting in motion events that will eventually lead to the forging of the Rings of Power and the struggle against Sauron.

Originally premiering on Prime Video in September 2022, the eight-episode first season is now receiving its first physical home entertainment release from Amazon MGM Studios.

The complete season will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD, with the 4K edition spreading its approximately 557 minutes across four Ultra HD discs. The UHD presentation is listed with Dolby Vision and HDR10 high dynamic range together with an English Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

Collectors can additionally choose a Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook, housing the four-disc season in exclusive SteelBook packaging with an outer slipcase and a selection of collectible art cards.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - Season One will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD in the UK by Amazon MGM Studios on 2nd November 2026, with the Limited Edition 4K SteelBook arriving alongside the standard editions.

The complete second season will also make its physical-media debut on the same day, including its own Limited Edition 4K SteelBook.
