Based on the hugely popular American show Saturday Night Live, Saturday Live was broadcast on Channel 4 with great success between 1985 and 1987. It became the home to the UK live alternative comedy circuit, and kick started the enduring and glorious career of comedians who have since become household names, such as Ben Elton - previously known only for his written works, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Lenny Henry plus many more.
