One of the most influential anime series of all time finally receives a long-awaited UK Blu-ray release this October, when Crunchyroll brings the complete first season of Sailor Moon to Blu-ray in a Limited Edition SteelBook.

Based on Naoko Takeuchi's hugely successful manga series, Sailor Moon follows seemingly ordinary schoolgirl Usagi Tsukino, whose life changes dramatically after an encounter with a mysterious talking black cat named Luna. Given a magical brooch that allows her to transform into the heroic Sailor Moon, Usagi discovers that she has been chosen to defend the Earth against the forces of the Dark Kingdom.

Initially inexperienced, reluctant and rather more prone to tears than your average superhero, Usagi gradually discovers both the responsibilities and friendships that come with her new identity. Along the way she is joined by fellow Sailor Guardians Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus, while the mysterious Tuxedo Mask repeatedly crosses her path as the battle against Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom intensifies.

Combining fantasy, romance, comedy and action, the original 1992 Sailor Moon became one of the defining magical-girl anime series and helped introduce a generation of viewers around the world to Japanese animation.

Crunchyroll's forthcoming UK release collects all 46 episodes of the first season across five Blu-ray discs, presented uncut in the series' original 4:3 aspect ratio. Viewers will be able to choose between the original Japanese audio with English subtitles and the VIZ Media English dub.

Presented as a Limited Edition SteelBook, the release also includes an exclusive holographic art card. On-disc supplementary material includes a behind-the-scenes look at the new English dub together with textless opening and ending songs.

Sailor Moon: Season 1 is released as Limited Edition SteelBook on Blu-ray by Crunchyroll on 26th October 2026.
