Just in time for Christmas, Sony Pictures Animation's The Smurfs 2 arrives 2nd December 2013 on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and UltraViolet from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This heartwarming new adventure reunites the world's favourite three apple-high creatures, bringing laughs for every member of the family.
Only included on the Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray are three all-new, kid-friendly featurettes, including The Puurrfect Companion: Azreal's Tail, showing how Gargamel's sidekick was created, from the live-action cat to the digital double, and how actor Frank Welker brought the character to life. Both the Blu-ray versions and DVD come with deleted scenes and two additional featurettes. Animating Azrael gives an in-depth look at how filmmakers animated Gargamel's sidekick, and the all-new Daddy's Little Girl: The Journey of Smurfette traces the origins of the one-and-only Smurfette back to Smurf creator, Peyo, and features Katy Perry on how she tapped into her inner Smurf to voice the classic character.
Earning more than $321 million in cinemas worldwide to date, the film stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria and features the voice talents of Katy Perry as Smurfette, George Lopez (Rio) as Grouchy, Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Clumsy, and Alan Cumming (TV's The Good Wife) as Gutsy. New additions to the franchise include Christina Ricci (Bel Ami) as Vexy, J.B. Smoove (Think Like a Man) as Hackus, John Oliver (TV's The Daily Show) as Vanity and Brendan Gleeson (The Company You Keep) as Victor. The late Jonathan Winters reprises his role as the original Papa Smurf. Directed by Raja Gosnell (The Smurfs, Scooby Doo), the film also includes celebrity voice guests stars Mario Lopez, Jimmy Kimmel, Fred Armisen, Shaun White and Shaquille O'Neal.
Evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) creates Hackus and Vexy, a pair of mischievous Smurf-like creatures, hoping they will let him harness the magical Smurf-essence. However, he soon discovers that he needs the help of Smurfette, who knows the secret to turning the pair into real Smurfs. When Gargamel, Hackus and Vexy kidnap Smurfette from Smurf Village and bring her to Paris, it's up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy and Vanity to reunite with their human friends, Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris) and Grace Winslow (Jayma Mays), to rescue her.
