Purporting to tell the story of a real life restaurant critic, The Trip, starring Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, is served up on BBC DVD from 13th December 2010.
Recently dumped by his girlfriend, Steve reluctantly enlists Rob to join him on a tour of the north of England while he reviews six restaurants for a weekend supplement. Never one to turn down a free lunch (let alone six), Rob agrees and together they set off on a culinary adventure
Over the course of six meals at six different restaurants in and around the Lake District, Lancashire and the Yorkshire Dales, the ultimate odd couple find themselves debating the big questions of life, such as how did I get to be here and where do I go next?
This sparkling improvised comedy sees the guys spend their time trying to out-do each other as to who has the best Michael Caine impression; dispute how Michael Sheen will always get better roles than Steve Coogan, and deliver a series of superb Woody Allen impressions and jokes.
The six-part comedy series is directed by the award winning Michael Winterbottom responsible for previous collaborations between Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, A Cock And Bull Story and 24 Hour Party People. And made in collaboration with Revolution films, Baby Cow and producers Andrew Eaton, Henry Normal and Melissa Parmenter
