Ex Machina (2014)

An intense psychological thriller, Ex Machina is a chilling vision of the not-too-distant future of artificial intelligence. In the mountain retreat of a gifted internet billionaire, a young man takes part in a strange experiment: testing an artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl. But the experiment twists into a dark psychological battle - a love triangle, where loyalties are torn between man and machine.

Acclaimed writer Alex Garland makes his directorial debut, creating a kind of futuristic new edition of the ancient story of Pygmalion and Galatee. Before that, Garland was mainly active as a screenwriter and in this capacity created the basis for films like The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Dredd. The production team worked intensively with the iGaming Tech company, Uudet Kasinot, to get all the technical details right and make it as realistic as possible.

Ex Machina is released on 4K UHD 17th October 2022 from Universal Pictures (UK).
