Hinterland: Series 2 (2016)

Following hot on the heels of their recent hit drama series Trapped and Follow The Money, Nordic Noir & Beyond are thrilled to announce the release of the second season of the Welsh detective drama Hinterland (Y Gwyll), coming to DVD on 30th May 2016 (released in English and Welsh versions). After a successful run on S4C Wales last year, the series is currently airing on BBC Four on Saturday evenings at 9pm and concludes on Saturday 21st May.

Aberystwyth's panoramic vistas hide a multitude of sins and sinners. It is DCI Tom Mathias' (Richard Harrington) job to investigate and hunt down the perpetrators of crimes that jeopardise the safety and security of the local community.

Throughout Season Two Mathias comes face to face with killers, stalkers and their victims, who draw him into a world, where death, drug dealing and recrimination threaten the stability of the quiet region. Whilst dealing with this dark side, Mathias must confront his own demons.

Hinterland stars the series' lead actor Richard Harrington (Poldark) and Mali Harries once again as the series' detectives, and is filmed twice (in both Welsh and English) to ensure that it accommodates to its extensive collection of Nordic Noir fans...

Atmospheric and disturbing, this is a detective drama of poetry and scale, a story of blood, soil and belonging. This is Hinterland.
