Pride, Covetousness, Lust, Envy, Greed, Anger and Sloth. Starring Pete Postlethwaite, this darkly funny yet deeply moving drama The Sins, released for the first time on DVD by 2entertain on 28th March 2011, explores each of the seven deadly sins.
Len Green is a man in crisis. After four and a half years in prison and having more than provided for his family during a lifetime of crime, he's decided to go straight and earn an honest living. But how will his wife, Gloria and daughters, Faith, Hope, Chastity, Charity and Dolores, adjust to their new found, and much less influential, status? And will it really be so easy for Len to resist the temptations offered by his criminal past, particularly when his old cohorts are so reluctant to let him go?
Determined never to return to prison, Len's only salvation is his Uncle Irwin, who offers him his long-established undertaking business as a means to an honest living. He starts work and embarks on a journey of self discovery in which he, and those around him, grapple with each of the sins in turn. As Len confronts each sin, Irwin remains confident that he will learn one thing above all else: that the greatest virtue of all in life - and death - is love.
The Sins is brought to life by an exceptional cast that includes veteran actor Frank Finlay (as undertaker Uncle Irwin) and Geraldine James (as Len's wife, Gloria), who heads up his tightly knit and hugely loving family and has kept things running while Len was inside. This Bafta nominated series also starts Neil Stuke (Silk, Game On) and Philip Jackson (Pete Versus Life, Funland, Brassed Off).
