Network is proud to announce the release of Doctor At Sea - The Complete Series (PG) on 23rd June 2008. This light-hearted sitcom sees two young doctors sign up as medical officers on a cruise ship only to find it isn't all smooth sailing. The over-the-top humour and outrageous storylines will provoke plenty of laughs. All thirteen half-hour episodes are included, complete and uncut.
Doctor At Sea originally aired in 1974, the fourth instalment in the Doctor... series after Doctor In the House, Doctor In Charge, and Doctor At Large. Geoffrey Davis and Robin Nedwell reprise their roles as Dick Stuart-Clark and Duncan Waring, doctors at St Swithin's Hospital with a juvenile disposition and crass sense of humour. When Dick is fired, Duncan resigns as a gesture of solidarity. The two then join a cruise ship as medical officers, assuming the job will be a breeze. Much to their chagrin, however, the ship's captain ends up being none other than Norman Luftus (Ernest Clark), twin brother of their former nemesis Professor Geoffrey Luftus. Emergency operations, cranky passengers, a crew uprising and the ill temperament of Captain Luftus all threaten to turn a much-anticipated voyage into a nightmare-at-sea.
Adapted from the popular books by Richard Gordon, this show is a quality production featuring flawless comic timing from its leads as well as notable guest appearances from the likes of David Jason (A Touch of Frost) and Bond girl Eva Reuber-Staier (The Spy Who Loved Me). For fans of the Doctor... series and anyone with a fondness for classic British comedy, Doctor At Sea will not disappoint.
