Icon Home Entertainment are pleased to announce the 9th May 2011 DVD and Blu-ray release of Chico & Rita, the passionate and beautifully animated love story from Oscar-winning director Fernando Trueba (Belle Epoque) and Spain's most famous designer Javier Mariscal.

Close collaborators and friends for many years, Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal celebrate their passion for the music and culture of Cuba with an epic story of love and heartbreak, set against the colour and bustle of Havana, New York, Las Vegas, Hollywood and Paris in the late 1940s and early '50s.

With an original soundtrack by legendary Cuban pianist, bandleader and composer Bebo Valdés, on whom the character of Chico is loosely based, Chico & Rita captures a definitive moment in the evolution of jazz music. The film features music by jazz legends Thelonious Monk, Cole Porter, Dizzy Gillespie & Freddy Cole (brother of Nat King Cole).

UK publisher 'SelfMadeHero' are pleased to announce the May 5th publication date of the graphic novel Chico & Rita by Javier Mariscal and Fernando Trueba. Mariscal and Trueba are identified as the authors of this graphic novel, which is colour illustrated in the popular Ligne Claire style. Beautifully published in a 208 page hardback edition, it will be available online and from book and comics retailers nationwide. Javier Marsical has created a strictly limited edition colour print, which will be placed into the first 500 copies of the graphic novel and made available through selected retailers nationwide from May 5th.
