Who Do You Think You Are? follows the journeys of over sixty well known personalities as they explore their family trees, uncover their family history and discover fascinating and poignant facts about their ancestors that have been, until recently, hidden in the annals of time. Now in a premiere DVD event, the 22nd August 2011 sees Acorn Media release all seven series, and the new Who Do You Think You Are? USA, in one unique boxed set; sixty-six incredible stories, one compulsively watchable collection.
In the sixth series of Who Do You Think You Are?, Rory Bremner, Fiona Bruce, Rick Stein, Zoë Wanamaker, Kevin Whately, Davina McCall, Chris Moyles, Kate Humble, David Mitchell, Kim Cattrall and Martin Freeman research their ancestry and past histories. The series brings out incredibly diverse tales as Rory Bremner discovers wartime heroes; Fiona Bruce reveals the secret life of a seaside photographer; Rick Stein finds a China connection; Zoë Wanamaker follows a journey from Russia to America; Kevin Whately finds himself immersed in very corporate interests; Davina McCall discovers her family ties to the Dreyfus Case; Chris Moyles follows a medal to Ypres; Kate Humble digs into The Great Escape; David Mitchell uncovers his Gaelic roots; Kim Cattrall follows the painful trail of a scandalous grandfather; and Martin Freeman finds an extended family that keeps on extending.
In the seventh series of Who Do You Think You Are?, Bruce Forysth travels from Belfast to Atlanta and New York in search of a famous landscape gardener's roots; Rupert Everett explores his grandfather's life in Nigeria which leads him to a surprise relative much closer to home; Dervla Kirwan looks into her grandfather's involvement with Irish nationalism and uncovers revelations of a Jewish connection; Monty Don uncovers a lost family fortune in the Keiller Dundee marmalade business; Rupert Penry-Jones travels to Monte Cassino in search of quiet heroism and to India to prove or disprove an Indian bloodline; Alexander Armstrong finds relationships with science and royalty dating back to Charles I and beyond; Jason Donovan follows prison ships to Tasmania and finds a family tree rooted in the Australian interior; Hugh Quarshie takes an extraordinary trip to Ghana where he discovers he could be a tribal chief, and on to Holland where stranger truths emerge; and Alan Cumming takes a path from World War II France into the heart of Malaysia to explore an unexplained death in the family with staggering results.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Broderick, Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Spike Lee. Who Do You Think You Are? USA follows the journeys of six well known US personalities as they explore their family trees, uncover their family history and discover surprising and enlightening facts about their heritage that until now have been lost in time. One finds a long lost relative in Europe, while another finds someone unexpected nearer home. One uncovers the secret life of an absent Grandmother, another finds their heart beats with Royal blood. One finds honour and solves an historic mystery on a Civil War battlefield, another finds themselves immersed in the Salem Witch Trials. The USA is a young country, but its stories reach back through many generations, often uncovering breathtaking revelations and bloodlines that made history.
