Universal Playback has announced the 17th September 2007 DVD release of Monk : Season 5. Former police detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), whose photographic memory and amazing ability to piece together tiny clues made him a local legend, has suffered from intensified obsessive-compulsive disorder and a variety of phobias since the unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy.

Though his eccentric traits bewilder his colleagues Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard), Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) and Lieutenant Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), Monk's attention to detail keeps crime-and grime-off the streets.

This season sees the amiable detective go head to head with a popular radio DJ suspected of killing his wife, a serial killer roaming the streets of San Francisco and an actor trying to play... himself!

With episodes featuring guest stars such as Stanley Tucci, Sean Astin, Chi McBride, and Sharon Lawrence, Detective Monk returns for this fifth season with more of the comedic genius you've come to expect and love.
