Dreamgirls (2006)

Paramount Pictures presents the Academy Award and Golden Globe winning musical Dreamgirls, a glittering tale based on the early 1980's Broadway musical, released on DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray from 28th May 2007.

Featuring a stellar cast, Dreamgirls boasts performances from Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx, Grammy award-winner Beyonce Knowles, Danny Glover as well as Golden Globe-winner Eddie Murphy and introducing a debut performance from Oscar and Golden Globe winner Jennifer Hudson.

It's the 1960s and singers Effie (Jennifer Hudson), Deena (Beyonce Knowles) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) are about to have their wildest dreams come true. Discovered at a talent show by ambitious manager Curtis Taylor (Jamie Foxx), The Dreamettes are offered a singing stint supporting the legendary James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy). Subsequently moulded into an inescapable hit machine by Taylor and propelled into the spotlight as The Dreams, the girls quickly find their desire for fame taking priority over their friendship, especially as ultra-talented Effie is edged out so that the beautiful Deena can become the face of the group.

The Dreamgirls two-disc DVD, features a wealth of thrilling bonus material including a feature-length documentary entitled Building the Dream presented in nine chapters as well a variety of behind-the-scenes featurettes.

The dazzling tale of Dreamgirls will also be digitally translated onto screens for the first time in crystal clear HD and Blu Ray formats, enabling fans to enjoy the film and its special features in the best sound and picture quality available. Featuring a sparkling soundtrack, Dreamgirls is an engaging, entertaining story which perfectly captures the Motown magic of the 1960s time period in which it is set.
