Drive (2011)
Thursday 17th March 2022
Adapted from James Sallis' 2005 novel of the same name, Drive is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day, a loner by nature, who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. Ultra professional and not very talkative, he has his own code of conduct. He has never taken part in the crimes of his employers other than by driving - and behind the wheel, he is the best!
But his life is turned upside down when he falls for his neighbour Irene. When Irene's husband gets out of prison and finds himself forcibly enlisted in a robbery to pay off a debt, deciding to come to Irene's aid, he finds himself a target for some of LA's most dangerous men. When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best - Drive!
Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson), Drive stars Academy Award Nominees Ryan Gosling (The Ides of March, Blue Valentine) and Carey Mulligan (An Education, Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps) alongside Golden Globe Winner Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy, Hellboy), Emmy Nominee Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Oscar Isaac (Body Of Lies) and Academy Award Nominee Albert Brooks (Taxi Driver, Broadcast News).
