The girls are back, back, back in this year's hottest and most talked-about movie - Sex And The City - which is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on 22nd September 2008 by Entertainment in Video. When Candace Bushnell wrote a series of autobiographical newspaper columns in The New York Observer, nobody could possibly have imagined that her articles would be the platform for one of the most iconic TV series of all time; a series winning seven Emmy's, eight Golden Globes and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Four years on in Sex And The City - The Movie, director Michael Patrick King proves the iconic appeal and enduring presence of our good screen friends - Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) - is stronger than ever and invites us to a reunion we couldn't miss! There are also star performances from Chris Noth (Mr Big), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Jason Lewis (Smith Jerrod), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt) and Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's super-efficient PA (Louise).
Carrie, successful author and everyone's favourite fashion icon-next-door, is back with her famously sardonic wit intact and sharper than ever, as she continues to narrate her own story about sex, love and the fashion-obsessed single women in New York City. The four girls are still trying to juggle work, friendships and relationships but now they have also started trying to navigate marriage and motherhood. After choosing an impossibly beautiful New York apartment together, Mr Big attempts to quell Carrie's fears of his commitment and asks her to marry him. With Carrie totally overwhelmed, plans for a quiet wedding soon spiral out of control with a Vogue photo-shoot, a guest list of 200 and a lavish Vivenne Westwood dress, as she lets the wedding get bigger than Big! Meanwhile, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte couldn't be happier... or at least they couldn't be happier for Carrie.
An exhausted Miranda admits she and Steve are having the kind of problems even she can't control and that they haven't slept together for six months but when loyal Steve confesses he's been unfaithful, a devastated Miranda immediately leaves him... is it something she can ever forgive or forget?
Now living in LA, an isolated Samantha is finding a loving committed relationship with Smith more gruelling than she ever thought it would be... can she break old habits and remain faithful or will temptation break the bond she shares with Smith?
Contented and happily married to Harry, Charlotte is a doting mother to their adopted Chinese daughter but still harbours hopes of finally getting pregnant... could Charlotte's perfect life become anymore perfect?
With Carrie's big day fast approaching and the rehearsal dinner in full swing, a bitter Miranda tells Mr Big, he's crazy to get married. After his two unsuccessful previous marriages and this quiet wedding spiralling out of control, Miranda's throw-away comment gathers pace in the mind of confirmed bachelor Mr Big... can he really make it work this time or are Carrie's dreams truly over?
