From the makers of Life on Mars, Spooks and Hustle comes the star-studded Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach, the brand new hybrid comedy drama-mockumentary/soap opera starring Ben Miller, Hugo Speer, Martine McCutcheon and Jason Donovan set to make its DVD debut on 24th March 2008 from Contender Home Entertainment.
Released as a DVD Boxset featuring all 12 episodes of both Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach, along with a splendid range of extras including behind the scenes 'molecam' footage, outtakes, deleted and extended scenes. In addition to the Boxset release Contender Home Entertainment will also release standalone DVD sets of Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach on the same date, each featuring all 12 episodes.
Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach have all the hooking power of a glamorous, angst ridden soap opera with the intriguing addition of a mischievous mockumentary which gives a cynical behind the scenes view of the hilarious antics of the soap's production team. Both shows have been created by Tony Jordan, lead writer and former story consultant for EastEnders, co-creator of Life on Mars and creator of Hustle.
In Moving Wallpaper we meet Jonathan Pope (Ben Miller - Armstrong And Miller, Primeval, The Worst Week), a man on a mission. That mission is to make the most talked about post-watershed soap opera - Echo Beach - in Britain. But when your boss hates you, the writers despair of you and the entire cast and crew think you're a prat, that mission is bound to be a fraught one. Ben Miller is joined by Raquel Cassidy (Party Animals, Lead Balloon), James Lance (Teachers, Sensitive Skin), Sarah Hadland (Saxondale, Peep Show), Elizabeth Berrington (The Dinner Party, The Office), Lucy Liemann (The IT Crowd), Dave Lamb (The Smoking Room) and Sinead Keenan (Trouble with Sex) and Susie Amy (Footballer's Wives, Hotel Babylon) who appears in both Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach.
In Echo Beach Hugo Speer (Bleak House, The Full Monty) plays Mark Penwarden, who will stop at nothing to run his wife Susan's (Martine McCutcheon - Love Actually, Eastenders) ex-lover Daniel Marrack (Jason Donovan - Neighbours, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat) out of the Cornish surfing town Polnarren. Echo Beach also stars some of the UK's hottest young talent - Ed Speleers (Eragon), Marcus Patrick (Hollyoaks), Laura Greenwood (Prime Suspect 7), Christian Cook (Where The Heart Is), Jonathan Readwin (Robin Hood), Naomi Ryan (Dream Team) Chandeep Uppal (Anita and Me) and newcomer Hannah Lederer-Alton.
Packed with twists and turns and wonderful comedy and soap opera moments, the DVD format offers the perfect way to get the most out of these two groundbreaking television series - by watching them over, and over again!
