For years, aspiring musicians Matt and Jay have pursued one seemingly simple dream: getting their band, Nirvanna the Band, booked to play a show at Toronto's legendary Rivoli. Unfortunately, their increasingly elaborate schemes have a habit of ending in disaster, and their latest attempt proves to be their most ambitious - and spectacularly misguided - yet.

When another plan to secure the elusive gig goes horribly wrong, the pair unexpectedly find themselves transported back to 2008. Stranded seventeen years in the past, Matt and Jay must navigate a world that is at once strangely familiar and increasingly dangerous to interfere with, as every encounter threatens to alter the future they have left behind.

With their friendship under growing strain and no obvious route back to the present, the hapless duo embark upon another increasingly absurd adventure in search of a way home - while Matt remains convinced that their unexpected journey through time might finally provide the opportunity they need to achieve their long-held dream of playing the Rivoli.

Directed by Matt Johnson and based on the cult web and television series, Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie combines mockumentary, buddy comedy and time-travel adventure in an anarchic tale of friendship, creative ambition and two musicians who simply refuse to give up on their dream.

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie is released on Blu-ray and 4K UHD 21st September 2026 from Visions Home Video.
