Set in a traditional Northampton shoe factory, Kinky Boots follows the true-life story of our beleaguered hero Charlie Price (Edgerton), as he becomes the unwitting owner of the family shoe business following the death of his father. As he takes the reins he quickly realises the business is in need of an injection of life and through a chance encounter with Lola (Ejiofor), a glamorous, six-foot drag queen from a Soho cabaret club, sets about reviving the companies fortunes.

Amidst much scepticism, Charlie and Lola form an unlikely partnership and begin designing sturdy yet sexy footwear for drag queens. Synopsis

With the sudden death of his father, Charlie Price takes up the reins of the family's traditional, Northampton shoe business - Price and Sons. But Charlie quickly discovers it is not business as usual and without new orders, bankruptcy looms.

As a sceptical workforce debate their novice manager, Charlie looks to London for solutions and, in a chance encounter, discovers sassy male cabaret star Lola, whose Soho world of outrageous fashion and stylish sexy boots, opens his eyes to an intriguing niche market. With trepidation, but spurred on by feisty factory worker Lauren, Charlie enlists Lola's help to diversify the range.

Lola's arrival at the provincial factory is greeted with ridicule and animosity, but the hapless yet loveable Charlie ploughs ahead with Lola, who, hiding her own insecurities takes charge of design. Employing some of her show-stopping bravado, Lola helps win over the fractured workforce to turn the company around creating the most outrageously sexy, Kinky Boots.
