Five students on their way to the ultimate party in the Nevada desert get more than they bargained for when they find themselves trapped in the middle of nowhere and hunted by a shadowy creature with a penchant for power tools and an unmistakable odour...

The friends, fun-loving babe Cookie (Arielle Kebbel, John Tucker Must Die), surfer dude Nelson (Derek Richardson, Hostel), smart blind guy Jack (Devon Gummersall, My So- Called Life) and straight-laced Gretchen (Tina Illman) set out into the desert joined by Nelson's friend Trip (Scott Whyte). Loaded with ecstasy stolen from his drug dealer, Trip needs to get out of town quick but when Gretchen finds out about the illegal substances on board she demands he get off at the nearest gas station. Passing a car accident on the way, they arrive at a motel in the middle of nowhere and end up stranded when their car breaks down.

Exploring the station and motel, the friends find the place deserted, phone lines are dead and they are unable to pick up a radio signal. Determined not to let the change of plans ruin their party they make the most of the drugs and vibrating beds, but soon start making a series of disturbing discoveries as night draws in. Rotting dead animals, a trucker looking for his missing wife and a sickening stench of death...

Apparitions of hideously mutated victims begin appearing, always accompanied by the toxic smell, putting all the teens on edge. None more so than Trip who discovers his drug dealer has tracked him down and is coming to take his revenge. But there is a much deadlier foe waiting for them and one by one they discover the gruesome fate that awaits them at the deadly, DIY tool laden hands of Reeker.
