Vicky McClure returns to the front line of bomb disposal as Trigger Point delivers its biggest threat yet, with the complete fourth series coming to Blu-ray and DVD this October.
Once again, explosives officer Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) and her Metropolitan Police bomb disposal team find themselves standing between the people of London and a potentially devastating attack on the capital.
The latest investigation begins when a suspicious lorry travelling through London attracts the attention of the authorities. What initially appears to be an isolated incident quickly develops into something considerably more dangerous as a series of explosions reveals that Lana and her fellow EXPOs are facing a highly organised group of professional mercenaries.
These are no ordinary bombers.
The attackers understand police procedures, know how the bomb disposal teams operate and appear capable of anticipating their response. As increasingly sophisticated devices force Lana, Danny (Eric Shango) and Hass (Nabil Elouahabi) from one potentially deadly situation to another, it becomes clear that those responsible have carefully planned their campaign.
Working alongside Counter Terrorism Command and MI5, the team races to discover who is behind the attacks and, more importantly, what their ultimate objective might be.
But the danger isn't confined to the explosive devices scattered across London.
As the investigation develops, troubling secrets begin emerging from within the organisations attempting to stop the attacks. Lana increasingly questions whether everyone around her can be trusted, while cracks begin to appear within a team whose members depend upon one another when a single mistake can cost lives.
At the same time, Lana continues to deal with the psychological consequences of years spent confronting extreme danger. Following the losses and trauma of the previous series, she is receiving therapy for PTSD and attempting to overcome her dependency on painkillers, just as the most dangerous case of her career begins pushing her towards her limits once again.
Vicky McClure returns as Lana alongside Eric Shango as fellow explosives officer Danny and Nabil Elouahabi as Hass. Natalie Simpson reprises her role as DS Helen Morgan, with Maanuv Thiara returning as DCI Batra.
Joining the fourth series is Julie Graham as Commander Nia Quentin, the formidable new head of the Counter Terrorism unit, as the police and security services attempt to coordinate their response to an unprecedented threat.
The six-part series considerably raises the scale of the danger facing the team, with the investigation ultimately developing into a desperate attempt to prevent an attack capable of killing thousands of people.
Produced by Jed Mercurio's HTM Television, Trigger Point has become one of ITV's most successful returning thrillers. Across its first three series the programme accumulated 91 million streams and reached more than 20 million viewers through ITV and ITVX, while Series Three averaged seven million viewers.
The fourth series is written by Bloodlands writer Chris Brandon, who also led the third series, with Jennie Darnell (Payback, Line of Duty) and Nirpal Bhogal (DI Ray, Grace) sharing directing duties.
The complete six-part Trigger Point: Series Four will be released on Blu-ray and DVD 19th October 2026 from Dazzler Media.
