The ice age is coming to an end, and the valley in which the animals are living is surrounded by glaciers that are beginning to melt. With the possibility of an impending flood, the unlikely trio of friends - Manny the woolly mammoth (Romano), Sid the sloth (Leguziamo) and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger (Leary) - join the masses and head off for the other end of the valley, where it is rumoured there is a boat. To add to the danger, two carnivorous prehistoric fish have thawed out and begin to follow the herd in the rising water.
Along the way, the trio run into Crash (William Scott) and Eddie (Peck), a pesky duo of possums whose 'sister' Ellie (Latifah) is unaware that she's really a full-sized mammoth! Manny's happy he's no longer the last of his kind but the two mammoths clash, all as Sid tries to prove he can be a leader and Diego tries to overcome his fear of water. Meanwhile, Scrat (Chris Wedge) remains behind in pursuit of an acorn...
