A Mighty Heart (2007)

Oscar winner Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider, Girl Interrupted) delivers an emotionally-charged performance in this harrowing testament to the resilience of the human spirit in A Mighty Heart, released by Paramount Home Entertainment from 28th January 2008.

BAFTA-winning director Michael Winterbottom (Welcome to Sarajevo, The Road To Guantanamo) tells the story of Mariane Pearl (Jolie), whose husband Daniel, a Wall Street journalist played by Dan Futterman (Shooting Fish), is kidnapped in Pakistan after setting up a secret meeting with an Islamic Fundamentalist Cleric.

In the chaotic days that follow and with her husband's life in the balance, Mariane's desperate search for the truth takes her through a maze of false alibis, emails, phone calls and misleading information, testing her faith and determination to the limit.

Jolie portrays Mariane's heroic struggle with raw passion as she strives against unimaginable odds to keep her dignity and hope in the face of terror and loss. Highlighting a world where suffering and political bias count for more than understanding and compassion, A Mighty Heart allows the viewer to reflect on a side that is rarely seen.

In an event that shocked the world, this is the story that you didn't know. It is the tragic tale of a man whose life was debated and distorted in a haze of modern politics, before being horribly taken in the full glare of insane propaganda.
