What lies beneath should be left beneath. From the writers of Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, comes The Living and the Dead, the supernatural series set in rural England in the 1890s, starring Colin Morgan (The Fall), Charlotte Spencer (Line of Duty) and produced by Eliza Mellor (Poldark).
When Nathan Appleby, a pioneering psychologist, inherits Shepzoy House in a beautiful but isolated Somerset valley, he decides to make a new life for himself and his adored wife, Charlotte. But soon the idyll is compromised by strange and disturbing occurrences that all seem to inexplicably swirl around the increasingly troubled Nathan. Is he being haunted? Why? And by whom? The answers will shatter every belief this man has ever held and threaten everything and everyone he has ever loved.
The Living and the Dead is released on DVD and Blu-ray on 8th August 2016 courtesy of BBC Worldwide. There are 40 minutes of DVD Extras including an EPK, programme clips from episode one, soundbites from key cast, Ashley Pharoah and Directors.
