Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan makes his first major screen appearance in 15 years in Masked and Anonymous, the directorial feature film debut of Larry Charles, the Emmy Award-winning writer and producer of Seinfeld and Mad About You.

Starring as the once-great, but rapidly fading, troubadour Jack Fate, Dylan heads an incredible star-studded cast that includes Jeff Bridges (Seabiscuit; K-PAX), Penélope Cruz (Vanilla Sky), John Goodman (Dirty Deeds; Storytelling), Jessica Lange (Big Fish), Luke Wilson (Legally Blonde 2; Old School), Bruce Dern (Monster), Ed Harris (The House; A Beautiful Mind), Val Kilmer (The Missing; Wonderland), Giovanni Ribisi (Cold Mountain; Lost In Translation), Mickey Rourke (Once Upon A Time In Mexico; Spun), Christian Slater (Windtalkers), Chris Penn (Starsky & Hutch), Fred Ward (Sweet Home Alabama) and Cheech Marin (Once Upon A Time In Mexico).

Co-written by Charles (as Rene Fontaine) and Dylan (as Sergei Petrov), Masked and Anonymous is set in a mythical version of contemporary America caught up in a civil war. Poverty and violence stalk the streets, corruption is rife and revolution is in the air. In the midst of this chaos and unrest, a benefit concert is being organised by Uncle Sweetheart (Goodman) and his partner Nina Veronica (Lange), who have sprung rock star Jack Fate (Dylan) from prison especially to headline the show. Sent to cover the event is embittered journalist Tom Friend (Bridges), who immediately finds himself caught up in a world of political intrigue, plots and murder; a world of ghosts from the past, winners and losers, each and every one on a collision course with destiny.

Directed by Larry Charles with the same dark humour he brought to Seinfeld Masked and Anonymous is an extraordinary film filled with the kinds of characters who populate the songs of Bob Dylan - drifters, conmen, fallen women and infidels. A must-see for Dylan fans, the film features an amazing soundtrack of Dylan covers (by the likes of The Ramones, The Grateful Dead and Los Lobos) and originals performed by Dylan and his band (Charlie Sexton, Larry Campbell, Tony Garnier and George Receli). It's also probably the only film in which you'll ever see Penelope Cruz wearing a Metallica T-shirt!

iMasked and Anonymous is released by High Fliers and will be available on DVD 10th May 2004.
