Coming soon from Premier Asia is the Ichi The Killer: 3-Disc Special Collector's Edition DVD box set, featuring both Takashi Miike's incredible live action movie adaptation of Hideo Yamamoto's ultra-violent manga comic, plus the amazing anime version detailing the shocking origins of the razor-booted assassin, Ichi.

Directed by Takashi Miike (The Happiness of the Katakuris; Visitor Q; Audition), Ichi The Killer remains true to its source material every bloody step of the way. When yakuza boss Anjo disappears without warning, along with a prostitute and one hundred million yen, loyal but psychotic, sadomasochistic hitman Kakihara takes it upon himself to lead the search, employing various methods of torture, mutilation and murder as a means to an end. Along the way, he meets sexy club hostess Karen and through her learns of the near-mythic Ichi, an armour clad killer with incredible martial arts skills and serious emotional and psychological problems. Could Ichi be the one behind the disappearance of Kakihara's boss?

Ichi The Killer boasts a hip and alternative cast of top Japanese talent including the country's answer to Johnny Depp, screen icon Tadanobu Asano (Taboo; Shark Skin Man And Peach Hip Girl), Nao Omori (Demonlover), and cult film directors Hiroyuki Tanaka aka Sabu (Monday) and Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsuo). It also stars one of Hong Kong's finest actresses, former Miss Singapore and Hong Kong Film Awards nominee Alien Sun (Island Of Greed; In The Mood For Love).

The stunning anime version of Hideo Yamamoto's creation takes his intensely visceral manga saga back to its blood-soaked roots and reveals the previously unseen history of Ichi's schooldays, his home life and upbringing. Scripted by Yamamoto himself, Ichi The Killer: –Anime is a perfect companion piece to Takashi Miike's live-action masterpiece. Fans will take extra delight from the fact that Takashi Miike actually provides the voice for the pivotal character of Kakihara.

Ichi The Killer: Collector's Edition will be released on DVD by Premier Asia on 5th July 2004.
