Made In Dagenham (2010)
Tuesday 1st March 2011
With a stellar British cast, Made In Dagenham, released by Paramount Home Entertainment on DVD from 28th March 2011, is the inspiring story of the women who made history. Award-winning Sally Hawkins is Rita O'Grady, a feisty yet warm-hearted worker at the Ford car plant in Dagenham who leads the girls in a revolution for equal pay for women.
Set in the swinging sixties against a stunningly colourful backdrop of beehives and Biba dresses, Made In Dagenham follows the emotional journey of a group of friends including Jaime Winstone (Donkey Punch, Kidulthood) and Geraldine James (Calendar Girls) from the factory floor to the House of Commons where these inspirational women meet with Barbara Castle (BAFTA award nominee Miranda Richardson - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). With the help of Union shop steward Bob Hoskins (The Long Good Friday, Mona Lisa), they prove that nothing is impossible if you stand up for what you believe in, in this heart-warming must-see story.
The film also stars a host of other fine British acting talent including Rosamund Pike (Pride & Prejudice, An Education), Andrea Riseborough (Brighton Rock), Daniel Mays (Shifty, Atonement), Kenneth Cranham (Hot Fuzz), Roger Lloyd-Pack (Only Fools and Horses), Rupert Graves (The Forsyte Saga), John Sessions (The Last Station) and Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead).
The swinging soundtrack features a title track from 60's barefoot sweetheart and original Dagenham Diva Sandie Shaw along with music from Dusty Springfield, The Kinks and The Temptations.
