21 Jump Street: Series 1

Details

As well as being one of the coolest cop shows in TV history, the classic 21 Jump Street was also responsible for launching the remarkable career of one of hottest stars working in Hollywood today, Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp (Finding Neverland; Pirates Of The Caribbean).

Now the complete first season of this explosive TV series is about to be released on DVD for the first time in the UK as a special four-disc box set featuring all 13 episodes of Season One, including the rarely seen two-part season premiere, and packed with extras that include all-new interviews with stars Holly Robinson Peete (Howard The Duck), Dustin Nguyen (TV's V.I.P.), Steven Williams (TV's The X-Files) and series co-creator Stephen J. Cannell (creator of The A-Team).

Johnny Depp stars as Tom Hanson, a baby-faced rookie cop assigned to the Jump Street unit, an elite division of the police force specialising in the undercover infiltration of high schools in order to fight and prevent juvenile crime. Hanson soon learns that teenagers are equally at threat from crime as their elders, both as victims and perpetrators, when he finds himself investigating instances of drug dealing, teenage prostitution, rape, sexual abuse, gang warfare and murder.

Acclaimed for its groundbreaking approach to the problem of teen crime and its brave and unflinching depiction of what, in the late 1980s, were considered taboo subjects, the show's main strengths lay in its intelligent storylines and the excellent performances of the cast, most notably Johnny Depp. As relevant today as it was during its original broadcast, now is the perfect time to revisit 21 Jump Street.

Along with cast regulars Depp, Frederic Forrest (Apocalypse Now) and Peter DeLuise (SeaQuest DSV), 21 Jump Street - The Complete First Season also features guest appearances by the likes of Blair Underwood (Rules Of Engagment; Deep Impact; TV's L.A. Law), Jason Priestley (TV's Beverly Hills 90210), Sherilyn Fenn (Darkness Falls; TV's Twin Peaks) and Josh Brolin (Hollow Man; Best Laid Plans; The Goonies).

The four-disc box set 21 Jump Street - The Complete First Season will be released on DVD by Anchor Bay UK on 17th January 2005.
