Saved!

Details

Allow yourself to be tempted by Saved! The heavenly new film starring teen favourite Mandy Moore (The Princess Diaries) and hot newcomers Jena Malone (Cold Mountain), Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) and Heather Matarazzo (Scream 3) is a divine comedy with a difference and out to own on DVD on the 28th February 2005 from MGM Home Entertainment Limited.

Mary (Malone) and Hilary (Moore) are best friends and top of the class and top of the food chain at the American Eagle Christian High School, these good Christian girls are worshipped by everyone! Not only do they lead perfect lives but they really are 'Down with God', and in this school that is the best way to be!

The situation changes when Mary's perfect boyfriend Dean confesses that he might be gay! Desperate to save him Mary receives a visitation from Jesus who reliably informs her that she should sacrifice her virginity in order to keep Dean on the right path. Ever the obedient girl Mary does just that, but it's too late for Dean as he is spirited away and Mary finds herself pregnant!

As an immaculate conception is slightly too far-fetched even for the American Eagle's religious followers Mary finds herself cast out into the cold by the fervent Hilary and her disciples. As a new pariah she is soon befriended by the school's other outcasts - including Hilary's own cynical brother Roland played brilliantly by Macaulay Culkin (Party Monster) - and the unlikely group, which includes a drop out skater and the school's lone Jew, come together to make it through to graduation and a shot at redemption.

Saved! is a cool, modern take on a moral story of learning tolerance, it also features great soundtrack (including: Travis, Depeche Mode, Salt N Pepa and Michael Stipe - who co-produced the film).
