The Stepford Wives is this year's sensational comedy-thriller and will be out to own and rent on DVD from 29th November 2004 courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

A sophisticated and comic re-imagining of the 1970s classic, The Stepford Wives is as funny as its predecessor was dark and features a stunning cast including Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler, Christopher Walken, Glenn Close, Roger Bart and Faith Hill. The disc also features an exciting array of extras such as The Making of Stepford Wives, Deleted Scenes and a hilarious Gag Reel.

When the high-powered career of Manhattan TV Executive Joanna Eberhart (Kidman) comes to an abrupt end, she suffers a nervous breakdown. Determined to move Joanna from the fast-paced, high-pressured big city life, her downtrodden and somewhat distant husband Walter Kresby (Broderick) moves the family to the affluent and idyllic Connecticut community of Stepford to live a happier, simpler life.

The family are welcomed whole-heartedly by local queen bee Claire Wellington (Close) and her husband Mike (Walken), but Joanna soon notices something mysterious about the place. The Stepford women are uniformly beautiful bimbos, happily subservient to their nerdish husbands. They're all beautiful, happy and creative. They can bake a cake, paint the house, mow the lawn, play with the kids and still greet their husbands in lacy lingerie at the end of a busy day.

Teaming up with a pair of equally-bemused newcomers - slobby writer Bobbi (Midler) and gay architect Roger (Bart) - Joanna discovers what has happened to the Stepford wives, and realises that she herself may be next...
