A Perfect early Christmas treat for all the family, Entertainment In Video has announced the re-release of The Nativity Story, an unforgettable tale that chronicles the arduous journey of two people, Mary and Joseph, a miraculous pregnancy, and the history-defining birth of Jesus.
Available as from 26th November 2007, this dramatic and compelling film features stunning performances from Academy Award® nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith), Oscar Isaac (In Bloom), Ciarán Hinds (Munich, Rome, Miami Vice) and Academy Award® nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (X-Men: The Last Stand, 24, House of Sand and Fog).
The Nativity Story is directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) from a screenplay by Mike Rich (The Rookie, Finding Forrester) while production designer Stefano Ortolani (Mission: Impossible III, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) makes this world come vibrantly alive.
Exploring the relationship between Joseph (Oscar Isaac) and Mary (Keisha Castle-Hughes) in the two years preceding the birth of Jesus, The Nativity Story is a beautifully uplifting film which is biblically faithful, historically authentic and visually stunning.
In Nazareth, a town oppressed by the devastating taxation practices of King Herod (Ciarán Hinds), a teenage girl, Mary, is told by her parents that they have arranged for her to marry Joseph. Distraught by the idea of marrying a man she hardly knows, Mary takes refuge in a grove to collect her thoughts. There, she is visited by an angel, who tells her that she has been chosen by God to bear his son. Ignoring the public scorn caused by an unwed pregnancy, Mary and Joseph travel together to Bethlehem for a census mandated by the King.
It is here, in a history-defining event, that Jesus is born.
