Most notable for being the debut feature of 17-year-old Academy Award winner, Nicole Kidman (The Hours; Birth; Moulin Rouge), BMX Bandits is also one of the best-loved and most fondly remembered children's films of the 1980s and is now available on DVD for the first time in the UK.

Packed with amazing BMX action from rad wheelies to awesome airs, chases, slapstick humour and crazy adventure, this madcap caper inspired an entire generation of kids across the world to get out on their bikes and let loose.

Suffering an unexpected collision with several wayward shopping trolleys in a supermarket car park, teenage friends PJ (Angelo D'Angelo) and Goose (James Lugton) not only manage to write off their BMX bikes, they also cause Judy (Nicole Kidman), the young check-out girl responsible for the trolleys, to lose her job. With little else to occupy their time, the trio take up fishing for oysters in the hope of raising some money to repair their bikes.

But their efforts land them a haul of a different kind when they stumble across a stash of contraband Police Band Radios, hidden by a gang of dangerous bank robbers who had planned to use them to monitor police movements during a future heist. After deciding to sell the radios on to raise their much-needed funds, PJ, Goose and Judy soon discover that both the cops and the crooks are after them and their catch.

More than just an 80s nostalgia-fest, BMX Bandits is a timeless piece of family entertainment in the tradition of Disney's classic "kids versus the bad guys films" such as "Escape To Witch Mountain", "The Apple Dumpling Gang" and "Diamonds On Wheels". Guaranteed to appeal to children of all ages, the film is also a must-see for Nicole Kidman fans.

BMX Bandits will be released on DVD by Contender Entertainment Group on 7th February 2005.
