Universal Pictures is delighted to announce the release of Inside Man, a fast paced action thriller available to own and rent on DVD from 31st July 2006.

This slick heist film is directed by Spike Lee (25th Hour, She Hate Me, Bamboozled) and features a stellar cast including Oscar winners and nominees Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster and Clive Owen.

Inside Man is the story of a tough New York cop who has to match his wits against a very smart bank robber... but this is no ordinary robbery.

NYPD hostage negotiator detectives Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) and Bill Mitchell (Chiwetel Ejiofor) are called to a crime scene at a lower Manhattan bank. Criminal mastermind Dalton Russell (Clive Owen) has attempted an audacious 'perfect' robbery and it soon becomes apparent that things aren't as they seem; Dalton Russell doesn't fit the mould of an ordinary bank robber and Frazier cannot piece this complex puzzle together.

As a dangerous cat-and-mouse game unfolds, another player enters the arena. The bank's chairman, Arthur Chase (Christopher Plummer) has something very personal in a security box that he wants kept secret at all costs - his life depends on it. Enter a shady power broker in the form of Madeline White (Jodie Foster). Her suspicious social power and influence throws her in front of the barrel of Russell's gun and into the bank to recover the box.

Fast-paced and complex, Inside Man is an ingenious twist on the classic bank heist film. Clever plotting from first-time screenwriter Russell Gewirtz (Blind Justice) offers suspense and intrigue by withholding the last piece of this stylish puzzle until the film's climactic end. All is not as it seems. Make sure you've got a copy of Inside Man on DVD in your safety deposit box.
