Bob Odenkirk finds himself in another spectacularly violent predicament this November as Ben Wheatley's action thriller Normal makes its way to 4K Ultra HD 9th November 2026 from Visions Home Video.

Ulysses Richardson (Bob Odenkirk) isn't looking for trouble. Still dealing with marital problems and the psychological consequences of his previous experiences in law enforcement, Ulysses accepts a temporary posting as sheriff of Normal, a sleepy Midwestern town where seemingly very little ever happens. For a man hoping to put some distance between himself and his past, it appears to be exactly what he needs. Then somebody decides to rob the local bank.

What should be a relatively straightforward crime rapidly begins exposing some uncomfortable truths about Normal and the people who live there. As Ulysses investigates the botched robbery, he discovers that the apparently peaceful community is hiding a secret considerably more dangerous than anything he expected to encounter during his temporary assignment. More worrying still, almost everybody in town seems determined to prevent him discovering what it is.

Before long the unassuming substitute sheriff finds himself facing corrupt locals, heavily armed adversaries and a conspiracy reaching into the heart of Normal itself, including the town's apparently respectable mayor. And then the Yakuza arrive. Suddenly surrounded by people trying to kill him, Ulysses is forced to rely upon the skills and instincts he had hoped to leave behind, joining forces with an unlikely collection of criminals as the sleepy town descends into increasingly spectacular chaos.

Directed by Ben Wheatley, Normal combines small-town crime thriller, black comedy and neo-Western with the brutally choreographed action that audiences have come to associate with Odenkirk following Nobody.

The film reunites Odenkirk with Nobody screenwriter Derek Kolstad, who also created the John Wick franchise. Kolstad wrote the screenplay from an original story developed with Odenkirk, with the pair once again placing an apparently ordinary middle-aged man at the centre of an increasingly extraordinary outbreak of violence.

Odenkirk stars as Ulysses alongside Henry Winkler as Normal's mayor and Lena Headey as local bar owner Moira. The supporting ensemble includes Billy MacLellan, Ryan Allen, Brendan Fletcher, Jess McLeod, Reena Jolly and Peter Shinkoda.

Behind the camera, Wheatley brings his own distinctive sensibility to the material. The British filmmaker previously explored similarly chaotic gunplay in Free Fire, alongside films including Kill List, Sightseers, High-Rise and Meg 2: The Trench. The film's score is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams and Ryder McNair, with Armando Salas serving as cinematographer.

Following its festival premiere and subsequent cinema release in 2025, Normal now heads to UK physical media in a Collector's Edition 4K Ultra HD release from Visions Home Video. The disc is accompanied by a selection of supplementary material led by A Town Called Normal, a behind-the-scenes featurette exploring the making of the film. Odenkirk and Wheatley also reunite for a London Q&A, while Wheatley provides a feature-length director's commentary.
