Details

Federico Fellini's most famous and accessible film, La Dolce Vita is also one of the most influential movies of all time (the term "paparazzi" is derived from the name of one of the film's characters), universally acclaimed by critics, filmmakers and the public alike. Winner of the prestigious Palme d'Or at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival and an Oscar for Best Costume Design, the film also picked up Oscar nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Art Direction.

Soon to be released on DVD by Nouveaux Pictures, and now digitally remastered from a beautifully restored print, Fellini's masterpiece has never looked better. This special edition of the film also features a brand new exclusive interview with the film's star Anita Ekberg.

Marcello Mastroianni (Divorce - Italian Style; La Grande Bouffe) stars as gossip columnist Marcello Rubini, whose fascination with the decadence and hedonism of Rome's high society hinder his aspirations of becoming a more serious writer. The film chronicles his adventures in a world where life consists of a constant stream of sex, drink, glamorous parties and fine food. Both drawn to and repulsed by this lifestyle, Rubini finds himself torn between his passion for a beautiful American starlet (Anita Ekberg) and the Bohemian posturing of his friend, Steiner (Alain Cuny).

Starring Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg (Boccaccio '70; Intervista), Alain Cuny (Camille Claudel), Anouk Aimee (A Man And A Woman), Yvonne Furneaux (Repulsion) and Magali Noel (Amarcord; Satyricon), La Dolce Vita is a spectacular morality play that has lost none of its relevance to today's celebrity obsessed world.

Digitally remastered from a restored print, La Dolce Vita will be released on DVD by Nouveaux Pictures on 27th September 2004.
