Produced by Oscar-winning director Pedro Almodovar (Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!; All About My Mother; Talk To Her) and starring Sarah Polley (Dawn Of The Dead; Go), Scott Speedman (Underworld) and Mark Ruffalo (In The Cut; XX/XY), My Life Without Me is a wonderfully moving and uplifting story of a young woman who endeavours to turn the most tragic of circumstances to the advantage of herself and those around her before it is too late.
Ann (Sarah Polley), the 23-year-old mother of two young daughters and wife of her childhood sweetheart, Don (Scott Speedman), ekes out a meagre existence working nights as a janitor in the local university. A physical collapse leads her to believe she is pregnant but a subsequent medical check-up results in devastating and tragic news. Determined to shield those around her from the truth of her condition, Ann puts her progressive ill health down to a bout of anaemia. Meanwhile, she resolves to make a list of all the things she had wanted to accomplish in her life and sets out to make sure every moment she has left counts for something, not just for herself, but also for those she loves. In doing so, she finds liberation and a sense of control she has never before experienced.
Sarah Polley gives a magnificent, Oscar calibre performance as a young woman who discovers the true value of life just when it means the most. In addition to Polley, Speedman and Ruffalo, the film also stars Deborah Harry (Spun; Cop Land), Amanda Plummer (Ken Park), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2; Identity) and Maria De Madeiros (Pulp Fiction).
