A drug-addicted murderous teen named Nikita (Anne Parillaud) is given a second chance by a government agency looking to exploit her penchant for motiveless violence. Given the option to kill, or be killed, she is retrained as a government assassin by her new handler Bob (Tchéky Karyo, The Patriot), and trainer Amande (Jeanne Moreau, Jules et Jim).

3 years later Nikita is reborn as Josephine, a sexy, chic femme fatale released back into normal society with instructions to build a cover life for her killer job. However complications ensue when she meets shop clerk Rico (Marc Duret, La Haine) and it seems the murderous instinct of her teenage years may be behind her...

Besson regular Jean Reno cameos as Victor "the cleaner" and Eric Serra contributes another hypnotically beautiful score. Nikita was remade as Point of No Return starring Bridget Fonda and was the basis of the long running Cult TV series La Femme Nikita.

Nikita is released on 4K UHD 23rd September 2024 from StudioCanal as a 3-disc Steelbook.
