Jim's dad doesn't understand his son, he tries to explain the facts of life to him and fails, but Jim is not deterred, he tries everything to bed the exchange student, but ends up being labelled with an unfortunate thing for a man.
This film is funny...very funny. If you liked Porkies and the like, you're guaranteed to love this film. Its sometimes quite a bittersweet film, with the end being quite sad as the boys realise that they have to leave each other behind (and their girlfriends which they had painstakingly set up for a last night of sex!).
It has to be said that Jim's dad steals the show here, especially when he gets the porn magazines out and tries to explain the facts of life to Jim, only to walk out of the room with something stuck to his backside (look out for it!). There's everything in here from laxative jokes to the now famous pie scene. I loved every moment of it.
Picture quality is indifferent however with an average bit rate masking a slightly grainy picture in places. Don't get me wrong, its not a bad picture, but it's not a great one either. Sound is okay, but surround is painfully underused with only the music and background voices during the initial party standing out.
Extras however are a cut above most, with some good production notes and a fairly good directors commentary. The outtakes however are a little disappointing in their content.
All in all, this film is hilarious, it's not quite as good as There's Something about Mary but its not far off and had me laughing out loud almost all the way though. Get it.
