Take the most unique journey of your film-watching life with the heart-warming and hilarious Transamerica.

With a stunning and critically acclaimed lead performance from Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman, for which she deservedly won a Golden Globe and received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Actress, Transamerica is released to buy and rent on DVD on 24th July 2006 by Pathé Distribution Ltd.

Bree Osbourne (Huffman, Desperate Housewives, Raising Helen), is a pre-operative transsexual, only days away from the surgery she desperately craves to complete her transition into a woman. When a young man, Toby (Kevin Zegers, Dawn of the Dead, Wrong Turn) unexpectedly calls from jail in New York looking for Stanley, Bree's original identity, her life is thrown upside down. Claiming that Stanley is the father he never knew, Bree realises that Toby is the product of a short-lived sexual encounter from her college days.

Initially reluctant to pursue a relationship with Toby, Bree's therapist persuades her it's in her best interests to confront her past as a man. Bree travels to New York to get Toby out of jail, posing as a Christian missionary. Giving in to her growing feelings of responsibility for the troubled Toby, who is involved with drugs and prostitution, she persuades him to accompany her on a road-trip back to California.

Bree's crash course on becoming a parent could not be more demanding - and often with comical consequences!

From an evening with a mixed bunch of upfront transsexuals, to having their car is stolen - it soon becomes a race against time to return to California for Bree's surgery. As Toby accidentally discovers Bree's true sexuality, and unknowingly meets the family he never knew he had, the entire family struggles to learn to accept each other - and themselves.
