| Carrie Bradshaw writes a weekly newspaper sex and relationships column called "Sex and the City" for a New York paper. The column is made up of her daily experiences with her own boyfriends and those of her best friends Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. The series continues from where the previous left off with Carrie still getting over her break up with Mr. Big because of his inability to commit. Her shoe cupboard is sure to expand a great deal by the end of this season. |
| Miranda Hobbes is a workaholic corporate lawyer and is deeply cynical of all men but fears being alone. Her near continual one night stands with bizarre and boring men are about to be broken with a relationship with a mild mannered, but broke, bar tender. Will their relationship last? |
| Charlotte York is an art dealer who likes to be wooed the old fashioned way with a knight in shining armour ready to sweep her off her feet. She is still desperate for the perfect man and no matter how hard she tries she always ends up with some rich wacko who either has strange sexual fantasies or falls asleep on the job. Will she ever find Mr. Right? |
| Samantha Jones is a public relations executive and a complete nymphomaniac. Samantha manages to bed any man she fancies but never manages to hold onto a relationship. But, shock, horror, she too manages to find the perfect man for her, but unfortunately, he is lacking in a department so vital to her happiness. |
| The picture quality is vastly improved over the previous series without the graininess that so much hindered the first season. The colours are much richer and vibrant and it really manages to bring to life the island of Manhattan. The improvement in picture quality can be easily compared by viewing the season one and then season two trailers on the disc. The improvement is staggering. |
 The sound is reasonable enough with a fair amount of
ambient effects appearing in the surround channel from the city and the many
clubs and bars the girls go into. With Carrie providing the narration during the
episodes her dialogue is impressively clear and precise.
Similar to the first season the menu is nicely presented and scored. While the extras are just previously broadcasted HBO promotional material for the series they are still interesting to watch and each episode is accompanied by a synopsis and preview trailer. It's all presented in a pleasant plastic box set, although it does have a nasty habit of flapping open. Never-the-less, the packaging is much better than those nasty paper cases that fall apart after a week even if there is one annoying thing about it. Starring at you through all the clear plastic, and with no apparent way of removing it without destroying the packaging, is an electronic security tag. |
| The series really does continue to get better and better and the humour is just as sexy and funny as the first. With all inhibitions and reservations about the first season in the past the writers have really gone to town with the second season. HBO have really created a gem and I can't wait for the third series to be released on DVD. |
