Film |
| Mel Gibson plays Carter who, although a bad guy, is the best of a bad bunch. The film is quite a roller-coaster ride of violence and gun shots, mostly from Carter, and some Gibson followers will be shocked by his bad guy image in the film. He has to deal with all kinds of lowlifes of the city ranging from bent coppers to gangs in an attempt to recover his money. During all his violent encounters, the film leaves you in agreement with the various thugs who wonder why he his bothering for this amount of money. |
| The final meeting with the head crime boss is a great edge of the seat piece of scripting, only when you realise where they are heading, without giving the plot away, do you find yourself laughing out loud at the fate awaiting them. |
|
For some reason this film is a noir presentation with an annoying washed out picture to go with it and there is hardly any use of surround. |
| The disc is devoid of any decent extras, other than a few short disjointed interviews with the cast, and the menu is the usual poor Warner affair. It is this poor presentation which spoils an otherwise excellent film. When is Warner going to learn from the likes of Fox and Columbia? |
