Anchor Bay Entertainment presents Kill The Irishman, an explosive gangster film depicting the true story of real-life Irish-American mobster Danny Greene, available on Blu-ray and DVD from 26th September 2011.
The film is inspired by Rick Porello's true written crime account To Kill The Irishman: The War That Crippled The Mafia and written/directed by Jonathan Hensleigh (The Punisher). The action-packed story boasts an all-star cast including Ray Stevenson (Book of Eli, Thor) as Danny Greene, Val Kilmer (Heat, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Academy Award® nominee and BaftA® winner Christopher Walken (King of New York, The Deer Hunter) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Men in Black). British gangster film star Vinnie Jones (Lock}, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch) also features alongside the legendary Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas) and Linda Cardellini (Brokeback Mountain, American Gun).
Over the summer of 1976, thirty-six bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war rages between Irish mobster Danny Greene and the Italian mafia. Kill The Irishman chronicles Greene's heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighbourhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (D'Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders from the mafia and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him in retaliation, Greene's infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn't kill.
Kill The Irishman transports the audience back to the 70s while telling the engrossing story of a man's violent rise, fall and struggle to find his place in a far from perfect world. If you are a fan of real-life gangster flicks such as Goodfellas, Mesrine, A Bronx Tale and The Sopranos, then Kill The Irishman is definitely a film to fit in your DVD and Blu-ray collection.
