The original version of Wilfred, the multi-award winning Australian comedy series about a foul-mouthed, beer-swilling, pot-smoking dog that thinks it's human, comes to DVD on 12th March 2012 as two separate releases, Wilfred: Season One and Wilfred: Season Two, both courtesy of Fabulous Films.
The original version of Wilfred, the multi-award winning Australian comedy series about a foul-mouthed, beer-swilling, pot-smoking dog that thinks it's human (and the inspiration behind the recent US remake starring Elijah Wood), comes to DVD on 12th March 2012 as two separate releases, Wilfred: Season One and Wilfred: Season Two, both courtesy of Fabulous Films.
Much edgier, slightly more sinister in tone and infinitely funnier than its toned down US counterpart, Wilfred is the brainchild of writers and stars, Jason Gann and Adam Zwar and series director Tony Rogers and is a must-see show for comedy fans and for anyone who enjoyed the Americanised remake, which also stars Gann in the title role, but wants something with a bit more bite.
Wilfred began life as a short film of the same name and was the winner of the Best Comedy award at the world's largest short film festival, Sydney's Tropfest. Following the success of the short film (which can now bee seen in the first seven minutes of the first episode ofWilfred: Season One), the trio adapted it into the hit show which has since gone on to win Australian Film Institute awards for Best Television Comedy Series, Best Performance In Television Comedy (Adam Zwar) and Best Screenplay In Television.
Adam (Zwar) can hardly believe his luck when he's invited home by Sarah (Cindy Waddingham), a gorgeous young woman he meets at a Powderfinger concert. But his joy is quickly turned on its head when he is introduced to Sarah's pet dog, Wilfred (Gann). To the rest of the world Wilfred is an ordinary canine, but to Adam he's a man in a dog suit - a jealous and partially psychotic man who seems determined to make Adam feel as uncomfortable as possible while dreaming up cruelly inventive way of sabotaging the new lovers' relationship. This bizarre situation forces Adam to question his sanity and proves without a doubt that a dog is not always a man's best friend.
Both Wilfred DVD collections come as two disc sets featuring all eight episodes of each respective Season plus a selection of Bonus Features including outtakes and other previously unseen footage from the show.
