This new film of playwright Lorraine Hansberry's award-winning drama reunites the cast of the acclaimed Broadway production, led by Sean 'P Diddy' Combs, alongside stage veterans Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Sanaa Lathan (TV's Nip/Tuck), Audra Mcdonald (TV's Kidnapped) and John Stamos (TV's ER).
When Walter Younger (Combs), his wife Ruth (McDonald) and his sister Beneatha (Lathan) learn that their late father has left their mother (Rashad) a large life insurance windfall, their different ideas about how to spend the money threaten to tear the family apart. The first play by an African American woman to be produced on the Broadway stage, A Raisin in the Sun remains as powerfully resonant today as ever.
