Regarded as one of the most successful and thought-provoking film directors of the modern era, during a career spanning over half a century Jean-Luc Godard has been responsible for producing countless cinematic classics. Now Nouveaux Pictures is releasing the Jean-Luc Godard : 60s Collection on 26th March 2007.

Regarded as one of the most successful and thought-provoking film directors of the modern era, during a career spanning over half a century Jean-Luc Godard has been responsible for producing countless cinematic classics including Breathless, A Woman Is A Woman, Weekend and Alphavile.

Now, Nouveaux Pictures has collected together on DVD for the first time, three landmark films from what is arguably the most successful and influential decade of Godard's career, the 1960s. The three-disc Jean-Luc Godard : 60s Collection Boxed Set, released on DVD (£39.99) by Nouveaux Pictures on 26th March 2007, includes Vivre Sa Vie, Masculin Feminin and Two Or Three Things I Know About Her, all digitally remastered from restored prints, as well as an exclusive 60-page booklet, "Key Scenes And Dialogue - Jean-Luc Godard".

Vivre Sa Vie One of Godard's finest films and winner of both the Pasinetti Award and the Special Jury Prize at the 1962 Venice Film Festival, Vivre Sa Vie employs a 12 episode structure to explore a Parisian woman's (played by Godard's then wife, Anna Karina) descent into a life of prostitution. A radical and entertaining masterpiece of inventiveness, thanks in no small part to Godard's daring and experimental use of sound and editing, Vivre Sa Vie presents a thought-provoking insight into the social conditions and mores of the times while packing an emotional punch with its shocking and poignant finale.

Masculin Feminin A multi-award winner at the 1966 Berlin International Film Festival, Godard's seventh feature Masculin Feminin stars award-winning actor Jean-Pierre Léaud (The Pornographer; Ira Vep; Day For Night; Last Tango In Paris), the hugely popular French recording artist Chantal Goya and an uncredited Brigitte Bardot (And God Created Woman) and is set against a background of an edgy France gripped by political upheaval, the Vietnam war and an election year in which De Gaulle kept his grip on power, much to the frustration of the disgruntled Left. Structuring the film around 15 scenes of varying lengths, Godard takes the deceptively simple story of the relationship between an ex-army recruit, Paul (Jean-Pierre Léaud), and aspiring pop singer, Madeleine (Chantal Goya), and uses it to impart his own complex philosophy of the world.

Two Or Three Things I Know About Her An essay on alienation in a consumerist society inspired by a real news article on housewife prostitution, Two Or Three Things I Know About Her is essentially a documentary of Godard's own state of mind and examines his theory that "in order to live in Parisian society [in the 1960s], one is forced, on whatever level, on whatever scale, to commit an act of prostitution in one way or another". The "Her" in this extraordinary film refers not to the lead character, Juliette (Marina Vlady), a chic, bored housewife and young married mother who chooses to supplement her income by spending one day a week in central Paris engaged in prostitution, but to the city of Paris. Beautifully photographed by award winning cinematographer and Godard regular Raoul Coutard (Alphaville; Breathless; Weekend; Bande à part), it represents a pivotal period in the director's celebrated career.
